Connecting Schema
What is this schema?
This is a great schema for developing fine motor skills and their hand eye coordination. As your child explores connecting, you will see them find an interest in things like building blocks or stacking cups. Not only will they enjoy knocking them down, they will also begin to build and construct. As they get older, introducing them to duplo and eventually lego will support their development of cause and effect. When do they start exploring it?
When do they start exploring it?
Children need to build dexterity for this schema and this is why it is usually seen between 2 and 4 years of age. They need to be able to connect and disconnect to explore this area more.
Here are 5 activities to try at home:
• Build and knock down towers
• Try some simple puzzles together
• Make paper chains
• Junk modelling with tape and tubes
• Thread pasta on a shoe string

Please ensure your child is supervised at all times
