WORK FOR US

Scroll Down

We are currently looking for a lively and enthusiastic class leader to join our Story Sense team working within the Teignbridge and Exeter area during term times only.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a child's first years, watching them learn through facilitated play with their parent or guardian. This job requires someone who will go the extra mile to make each class special.

Start Date: January 2023 (training will be required for 6 weeks starting in November 2022)
This is a self-employed role, allowing you to choose the days and hours you want to work in a week. Locations and venues will also be discussed.
Pay rate: £11 per hour (Self employed)

  • Are you a confident individual who can lead from the front and be centre stage?

  • Are you hard working and motivated?

  • Are you approachable?

  • Do you work well under pressure?

  • Do you have a great sense of humour?

  • Can you drive?

  • Do you want to have an excellent work life balance to be around for those you love?

If you can answer yes to all of the above, this role could be for you!

What does being a class leader involve?
As a class leader, you will deliver weekly hour long classes from detailed lesson plans and facilitate a range of sensory activities, including one week each term of messy play. In return, I will ensure you have adequate equipment to run the classes and ongoing support from me. Classes that you run will be in new areas so they may begin small and grow throughout the first few months. The current classes in Kingsbridge started with just two groups of around 6 parents and babies/toddlers and now runs at full capacity of 15 in each class at four different times on a Friday (PRE COVID).

  • You will be required to collect equipment from Paignton into your own car prior to the day of your classes running. Driving is essential for this role.

  • You will also set up and breakdown the equipment before and after each day of classes, along with removing any unsuitable toys for babies in between toddler and baby classes. It is essential that all of the equipment is regularly cleaned and always presented to a high standard in order to retain the reputation that Story Sense has developed.

  • You will be required to take a register at every class to ensure accurate information is kept on those who have or have not attended sessions.

  • You will be expected to promote the next term of classes and inform parents how and when to book.

  • You will also be responsible for keeping current customers and promoting to a new audience in order to ensure attendance levels remain high. If class numbers drop, these sessions will be cancelled.

Training
Before running your own classes, you are expected to take part in a training programme in classes already running. You will also meet with myself regularly (at least termly) for up to date training on any changes to lesson plan materials and any new equipment. Once you have completed 6 weeks working alongside me, you will then be solely in charge of starting new classes in new locations.

This post requires a high level of commitment. Parents expect classes to run once started and timetables not to be changed constantly.

You will also be able to teach one-off classes (for example Christmas specials, mothers day etc) along with other services such as birthday parties (a required commitment to attend at least 3 other birthday parties alongside me will be required) which may take place on other week days or weekends.

I want to be part of the team!
