Trajectory Schema

What is this schema?

Children who show an interest in trajectory, like watching and exploring this moving in the air or over a surface. Throwing, dropping and pouring also come under this area of development too. This schema helps children learning about gravity and forces as well as cause and effect of movement. It supports their physical development and understanding of the world.

When do they start exploring this?

Surprisingly, this schema can start early on from around 6 months as they start to drop toys and watch them fall, and then continues through the toddler years as they learn to jump, throw and pour.

Here's 5 activities to try at home:

• Try throwing and catching games with something soft

• Water play to encourage pouring

• Throw bean bags into buckets or Hoops

•  Use ribbon wands to dance and move with

•  Explore paper planes

Please ensure your child is supervised at all times
